blog2video.app WordPress integration: WordPress connecting to a video player.

Tutorial

Connect WordPress to Blog2Video in 5 steps

Create an application password, paste it into Blog2Video, and turn any WordPress post into a video. No plugin needed.

Five steps, no plugin

Blog2Video connects to a self-hosted WordPress site with an application password, a feature built into WordPress. There is nothing to install. The video shows the whole flow, and the written steps are below.

  • Add an application password
  • Copy it once
  • Paste and connect
  • Pick your posts
  • Send the video back to WordPress

1. Add an application password in WordPress

In your WordPress dashboard go to Users, then Profile. Scroll down to Application Passwords, type Blog2Video as the name, and click Add New Application Password.

2. Copy it now, WordPress shows it once

WordPress shows the new password one time only. Copy it straight away, along with your site address and your username. If you close the message before copying, you have to create a new password.

3. Paste and connect in Blog2Video

In Blog2Video open the Connect tab and choose WordPress. Enter your site URL and username, paste the application password, and click Connect. Your site needs https. The password is stored encrypted.

If your site is hosted on WordPress.com, skip the password: use Connect with WordPress.com, sign in with your account, and choose the site.

4. Pick your posts

Click New, open the Connect tab, and your WordPress posts appear, drafts and private posts included. Tick one or several. Each becomes its own video.

5. Send the video back to WordPress

Click the WordPress icon on the finished project. Create a new draft or add the video to the original post, at the top or bottom. Blog2Video adds it the best way your site allows: the video file itself, an embedded player, or a click-to-watch thumbnail.

Connect once, done

No plugin, no copying links. Try it at blog2video.app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to install a plugin?

No. The application password is a built-in WordPress feature. (There is also an optional Blog2Video WordPress plugin.)

What if I use WordPress.com?

Use the Connect with WordPress.com button instead. It signs you in with one click and needs no password.

Why can't I see my password again?

WordPress only shows an application password once. Create a new one if you lose it.
